Professor Smith. is a Consultant Paediatric Haematologist, at Our
Lady's Hospital for Sick Children, Dublin, and is Professor of
Haematology at Trinity College Dublin. He has an active research group
based in the Institute of Molecular Medicine working on the molecular
and cellular basis of the inflammatory-coagulation interface in human

Dr. O'Marcaigh's research activity is in the
pathogenesis and treatment of myeloid malignancy, and is a member of
the UK Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Group acute leukaemia working

Dr. Michael P. Carty

Dr. Carty took up a position as a College Lecturer in the Department of
Biochemistry at the National University of Ireland, Galway in 2000.
His research group focuses on how the loss of genome stability
contributes to cancer development, and on the molecular responses of
human cells to DNA damaging agents, for example cisplatin, used in
cancer therapy.
